Who is eligible to join a water board?

To run in an election for a Community Services District or a Public Utilities District in Fresno, Kern, Kings, and Tulare Counties, you must meet these two requirements: 1) be a registered voter within the district you are running for, and 2) you cannot be on parole for a felony. That’s it!

Earlier this year, CWC released a report that found that in the southern San Joaquin Valley, 87% of local water board seats were uncontested in the most recent election -- that’s almost 500 local seats.
