Community Water Center

Community-driven water solutions through organizing, education, and advocacy

Patricia Avila-Garcia

Policy Advocate

Patty joined the Community Water Center in May 2019. As a Policy Advocate, she is primarily responsible for supporting community-driven campaigns and projects from the Sacramento Office.

Patty is from Arvin, Ca and studied Social Welfare and Psychology at UC Berkeley and received a Master of Public Health degree from UC Berkeley in 2019.

In addition to her passion for environmental justice, Patty is also passionate about achieving health equity by addressing social determinants of health and has years of experience serving populations in safety-net healthcare systems. For example, she was previously a Research Coordinator where she helped design digital mental health interventions and worked to increase uptake and adoption by patients at an urban, safety-net hospital. Patty actively seeks ways to be involved in work that addresses disparities and is excited to be working toward ensuring everyone has access to clean, safe and affordable drinking water.
